It's Christmas Time

Hey guys,

I went to a Christmas Party with daddy and mommy on Sunday and we had a good time. Ms. Blaire took some really nice pics of me. She is in mommy and daddy's sunday school class. She has a little boy too. His name is Eli, which is short for Elijah. We are going to be buddies. Anyway, see you alligators later. Or is it see ya later alligator. Hey, give me a break, I'm just learning this stuff ya know.

I Can Hold My Bottle, Yeaaah!!!

I am the man. Guess what I learned to do. You know it. I can hold my bottle. It is just the best thing in the whole wide world. No more waiting on mommy and daddy to feed me. Besides daddy likes to play to many games when I eat. I mean just give me the darn bottle already paps. None of that airplane stuff. When a baby's gat to eat - a baby's gat to eat. Anyway, I'm not a pro at this whole bottle holding thing yet, so when I get tired I just give mommy those puppy dog eyes and she takes over. What a sucker. Hehehe.

Happy Turkey Day

Hey everyone,
Thanksgiving was a blast. I got to hang out with Bun-Bun and I got to drink lots of water. I love that stuff. I also met my Uncle Don , Aunt Kris, and cousins Courtney and Alex. They are pretty neat, and they really liked me. What can I say, I'm a charmer. Anyway, I can't wait til next year Thanksgiving when I can really enjoy all that food. Bun-Bun tried to sneak some mash potatoes in my mouth but mommy caught her. That mommy doesn't miss a lick. I guess I'm not supposed to eat anything that has cow's milk in it yet until I'm a year old because of some allergy thingee. Don't know what that is but I guess it's bad. Daddy said mommy's over protective. Mommy said that it's her job to be overprotective. Those two crack me up. Daddy said if I was in Nassau, I'd already be eating conch (I heard that it's a snail that crawls on the ocean floor). Man, I can't wait to try it.

Brrrrrr!

This morning, it was like 5 degrees outside so daddy got me all bundled up. He's such a good guy. The only problem is I couldn't find my fingers. They just disappeared. I was really warm though. I don't like the cold weather. That must be the island boy inside me coming out.

I Gat A Tooth

Guess what everybody, I got a tooth. I can't believe it. One day there was no tooth and the next day it just popped up. Let me tell ya something though, it hurt like HE__ . You can fill in the blank. I kept mommy and daddy up all night when it was popping up. I can't wait to start eating french fries. Everytime daddy has some he teases me with them. That's just not right. And after french fries I want to try that quarter pounder thingee I see daddy with all the time. Looks good to me. Only problem is that I'm still having a hard time finding my mouth. The food just doesn't want to go in there. I can get it everywhere else but in my mouth. Well, look at it this way, at least there will be tons of funny pics for me to laugh at when I get older.

Happy Halloween

Hey everyone! I got to celebrate my first Halloween last week. Mommy dressed me up as a duck. Daddy was like "a duck, what happened to Superman or Batman!" Mommy said it looked too adorable to pass up. I have to say, I'm with daddy on this one. I'd much rather have been Superman. He can fly and shoot lasers out of his eyes. The only thing a duck does it say quack. Anyway, my Uncle Try and Aunt Monique bought this outfit for me last Christmas before I was even here. Thanks Uncle Try and Aunt Mo. Now this photo will haunt me for the rest of my life.

5 Months Old

Hey World,
Long time no see. I've been trying to get daddy to log me in so I could talk to you guys, but he said he's been extremely busy. Anyway, I'm here now. How's everyone been? I've learned so many things since you guys saw me last. I've upgraded from that bland rice cereal stuff. I'm now eating oatmeal. It's not much better though. I heard that pretty soon I'll be eating carrots. I don't know what that is, but I'm pretty pumped up about it. I can roll over from my stomach onto my back now, but I haven't quite mastered rolling from my back to my tummy. My arm keeps getting in the way. Daddy said I need to do pushups. What's he think I am, a machine! I've also figured out this crying thing. You see, whenever you want something you just scream and then mommy comes running to see what's wrong. When she gets there I just start smiling. Then I let her walk off and start screaming again just to see if she can beat her last time. I think her record is 2 seconds from the kitchen to the living room. She's pretty fast. I tried it on daddy the other day when he was cleaning up and he just let me cry. He said he was letting me stretch my lungs. This daddy guy is hard core. I'm learning that mommies and daddies are really different. Well guys, hopefully it won't be too long until you hear from me again. I'll make sure daddy is on top of things. I'd log on myself if I knew how to type. Peace out world.

Rice Cereal, Yucky!

Hey guys,

Well I had my first experience with that thing you guys call a spoon. I hate it. Why do you guys use that thing. It's so annoying. I'd much rather just suck on a nipple or use my hands. By the way, I'm starting to figure out how to use my hands to stick things in my mouth. Now that is really cool. Anyway, I'm not into the whole rice cereal thing yet, but when I get there I'll be sure to let you know.

Gotcha Daddy!

So daddy decided to make fun of me the other day. Well daddy I have a surprise for you. Hehehehe.

3 Months Old

Hey guys,

I'm officially 3 months old today. Man how time
flies. I feel like an old man. I've already started growing a mustache. Anyway, things have been going great. We moved into a new house, mommy and daddy both went back to work, which means I'm in daycare, and I've discovered those little things on my feet daddy calls toes. I don't know what a toe is but I do know one thing, they sure are tasty.

Daycare is great. I have tons of friends. My daycare lady's name is Ms. Christy. She's so much fun and she loves to make me laugh.

I've also found a new love. It's that big box that has all the pretty colors that flash and makes noise. Daddy calls it tv. Well whatever it is, I'm already addicted. There are so many colors, I'm amazed.

Great things are happening for me folks. I just can't believe only 3 months ago I was still in my mommy's tummy getting ready to meet you guys. I've even started to laugh and make sounds that no one but me and my friends at daycare can understand. It's so much fun watching daddy try to mimic me. He sounds like he's speaking in tongues. What a weirdo. Anyway, peace out for now and I'll hit you guys back lata ( I learned that from daddy).

Sammie vs. Jay

Hey world. This is my big brother Jay. Yup he's a cat, but I really don't think he knows that. He thinks he's as much a human as I am. He thinks he runs this place. As you can tell he likes to sleep in mommy and daddy's bed. But now that there's a new sheriff in town things around here are going to have to change. Whoever wears the diapers is the boss in this household and as far as I can see I'm the one wearing the diapers. So Jay, this is my bed and that's my mommy so you better cool it mister or else I'll be pulling your tail when I get older. hehehehe :)

The Pool, Yeaaaah!

World, guess what I did yesterday? I went swimming. It was greeeeeat! Much more fun than swimming around in mommy's tummy. Daddy and mommy thought I was going to cry but like they say in the Bahamas "Dey don't know me ey! Dey don't know who I is?" (US translation - I'm one tough cookie!) I didn't shed a tear, not even when daddy put my head under water. Yup he sure did. He blew in my face so I would hold my breathe and then dipped me under really fast. It was soooo cool. Everything was blurry and wet. I love the pool. I can already tell I'm going to spend lots of time out there when I get older.

Hallelujah!

She's back! Thank goodness. I missed her soooooooo much. Daddy's cool and everything, but mommy is on a whole other level. I haven't slept this good in four whole days. She just has the magic touch, and the milk is just too good to pass up. I can tell she missed me too. She hasn't put me down since she got back. When she got home she went and gave daddy a kiss first, but I know she just didn't want to make him feel bad. She told me so. I didn't think I would miss her that much, but I guess if you've spent the last 49 weeks being connected to somebody, it isn't that easy to give them up. Daddy told mommy to enjoy it now because things will probably change when I get older. I don't know what he's talking about. I'm never leaving my mommy. She's great.

Mommy Come Back!

So world, I told you earlier that mommy went back to work. What I didn't tell you is that she went to a conference in Kentucky. So, it's been me and daddy and Grammy Jessie. She flew up from Nassau to help daddy out. Anyway, daddy has free reign to do whatever he wants with me since mommy isn't here to stop him. We went walking today and then he took me to the pool. I didn't go in though because daddy couldn't find his swim trunks. I can't wait for mommy to get back. I've had to eat my milk out of bottles. It's okay, but not as good as my mommy. She'll be back on Thursday. Grammy Jessie's fun. After falling asleep on my own last night, she said that I was a good baby. That was until I decided not to take a nap today. Anyway, after getting my shots I found out that I am now 11 pounds 10 oz. and 22 inches long. I have a tiny head though. It's only 14 inches around. The doctor said I'm in the 10th percentile, which means only 10 percent of babies heads are my size and 90 percent are bigger. Daddy said I got my tiny head from mommy. As you can tell in the picture the baseball cap is a little too big. I'm sure I'll fill it in soon enough though. Mommy hurry back. I don't know what daddy has planned for me tomorrow.

That Hurt!

Ouch! What in the world was that. Why do babies need to get stuck with that sharp little pointy thing. Sorry world, I've been on hiatus for the past few weeks learning how to sleep, but I just had to let you know about my day. First of all, mommy leaves me to go back to work and then daddy goes ahead and takes me to this other lady that makes me cry. Daddy said that I had to have my shots and that it was for my own good. Own good? What in the world is that all about. I never heard about pain being for my own good. Anyway, I don't ever want to go back to the doctor again. They were all very nice and friendly before the shots, but I'll never trust them again. No way. Anyway, daddy said that I have to go back in two months to get more shots. Not me. I asked daddy how come he doesn't have to get any shots. He said he already had his. Whatever. I'll have to see it to believe it.

Family Photos

Hey guys,
I've been busy preparing for another photo shoot that was today. I got to take pics with mommy, daddy, Gabriela, Nichy, and Morgan (they are daddy and mommy's really good friends). Nichy and daddy both played basketball at Fayetteville Christian way back in the late 90's. They are soooo old. The funny thing is that even though they both played at Fayetteville Christian, they never played together. You see, Nichy came to Fayetteville Christian from Panama a year after daddy graduated from high school. Daddy was already at John Brown University at the time. Anyway, since they never played together I asked daddy how they became friends, and he said it's an international thing. Guess he'll tell me the story when I get older. Anyway, Gabriela is Nichy's little girl. She's a cutie! Daddy said that he and Nichy already signed a contract for me and Gabriella to get married. She's six weeks older than I am and I haven't decided how I feel about dating an older woman. Anyway, we still had so much fun. That is until Gabriela and I got tired and decided to be fussy. Hey, a baby can only take so much. All that smiling made us hungry and tired, and when a baby's got to eat, a baby's got to eat. Anyway, you can click on the pics down below. Take care and I'll be sharing more soon. Enjoy.

More Family

Hey world! Sorry it's been so long. I've been hanging out with my Uncle Dorrie, Auntie Janice and cousins, Alex and Dyson. They drove 10+ hours from Cincinnati just to see me. I must be special. It was so much fun having them around. Auntie Janice did a great job of helping me fall asleep. Daddy said he wish she was here fulltime so he and mommy could take a break. Uncle Dorrie looks like my daddy. But I think he's a sloppy eater like me because there is milk all over his face. Whenever I eat I get milk all over my face too. But mommy wipes it off with a burp cloth. Alex, 4, and Dyson, 2, were fun too. Alex followed me around everywhere. He really likes having me as a cousin. Dyson didn't care for me much but that's because I think he was too busy keeping an eye on Smoke (they didn't see eye to eye). Dyson did like to chew on my pacifier though. Uncle Dorrie said Dyson wouldn't use them when he was a baby so I guess he's making up for lost time. We did so many things this week including going to the animal safari and the swimming pool.

There are so many pretty colors out there. I never realized how many animals there were out there too. Some of them are really funny looking. Daddy said his favorite was the pot belly pig.

Dyson didn't care much for those animals either. He's not an animal person, but Auntie Janice said that he's going to be a musician. I like music. Maybe me and Dyson will make a cd when we get older. Anyway world that's it for now. Until next time.

Happy Birthday Daddy

Today is my daddy's birthday. He turned 28 today. He's really old. He's so old he already has gray hair popping up in his beard and he's lost all the hair on his head. The only things left to go are his teeth. But I don't know if it'll happen. My dad told me that his granddaddy my great granddaddy died with all his teeth, so maybe I'll inherit that gene and not lose any of my teeth once I get them. Daddy said I'll at least have to lose my first set of teeth though. For his birthday, I got daddy a bottle of cologne and a ton of candy bars. He really likes Baby Ruths. I know how bad he wanted to open his present so I decided to wake him up at 1 o'clock this morning to give it to him. All I had to do was start crying and he woke up. I think he really appreciated it. For some reason, daddy said sleep is extremely underrated. Don't know what that means. Also for daddy's birthday we have visitors coming. My Uncle Dorrie, Aunt Janice, and cousins Alex and Dyson are on there way here! I cannot wait to meet them. I hope I can stay awake. Well see you guys tomorrow. Later!

Hey Jimmy

This is my second cousin Jimmy. Unbelievably, Jimmy is my mommy's only first cousin that is a male. Out of my mom's 13 first cousins on my Grandma Mac's side, he's the only guy. Everyone else is a girl. So Jimmy, for putting up with all those women you get a special cameo appearance on the blog. I like Jimmy, and as you can see, he really likes me. Mommy told me Jimmy is also a black belt in martial arts. I don't know what that means, but daddy said that if I have any problems with bullies in school Jimmy will have my back. So world watch out because Jet Li and Jackie Chan won't have anything on me after Jimmy's done with me.

Grandpa and Grandma Wheatley

Hey world! Remember me? I went on a short trip to Michigan to meet my Grandma Wheatley, Mary Ann, and more of my family. She's great. I really like her a lot. I also got to fly on a plane for the first time. I didn't even cry. I really like planes. Daddy said that when he was little, he liked to look out the windows and see all the toy cars down below. Dad's a goofball. Mommy also took me to visit my Grandpa Wheatley's grave. He passed away a few years ago from Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS). I sure do wish I would have gotten to meet him, but I'm sure he'll be waiting for me in heaven one day. He did leave me a Howdy Doody watch that he asked mommy to give me whenever I showed up. So ,I'll always have something of his. Well two things of his because I also got my middle name Thomas, from his middle name. He was Clyde Thomas Wheatley. Mommy also told me that he fought in Vietnam and loved to have a good time. Daddy told me a funny story about the first time he met my Grandpa Clyde. He said that he heard my Grandpa was a great hunter so he was scared to meet him because he was a "good shot". Like I said, dad's a goofball. Well, that's all my grandparents. Don't you just love them. Below is a picture of my mommy when she was little, Grandpa and Grandma Wheatley, Aunt Jenny, Uncle John, and Aunt Steph (Yup she has the same name as my mommy. Pretty neat huh.) You can see more pics of my family down below on My First Trip to Michigan.

Pastor GrandDaddy

This is my Granfather, Alonzo Alsabyerdiese (long story I'll share another time) Hinsey. He flew in from Nassau today. I can already tell he's a hoot. He reminds me of a guy I saw on tv the other day. I think his name was Bill Cosby. Daddy said that my cousins Ailayah and Anaiyah came up with the name Pastor GrandDaddy because he pastors a church in the Bahamas . So I guess they put two and two together. Daddy also said this is where the signature Hinsey nose comes from so I guess there's no denying he's my grandfather. GrandDaddy is also an architect by trade and draws blueprints and constructs buildings so I can tell there will be lots I can learn from him. There are so many cool people in my family. I heard I'm going to meet my Uncle Dorrie, Auntie Janice, and cousins Alex and Dyson in a few weeks. I can't wait. Well, take it easy world. I'm 3 weeks old today and loving it.

Father's Day

Sunday was my first day at church. It was Father's Day so I decided to let mommy and daddy take me out for a ride. Mommy was happy that she got to play dress up with me. Daddy said he doesn't know why anyone ever buys anything other than diapers for babies. He said there are tons of clothes I have that I'll never wear because they'll be too small, but you can't ever go wrong with diapers. I've gone through about 80 diapers in less than a week. That's alot of poop. Look on the bright side, at least I'm not constipated.

Anyway, back to church. Daddy got to stand up in church when all the fathers were recognized. He was so proud. He was trying to hide the smile on his face but I saw him. I fell asleep until the guy up at the front started to walk around on the stage and talk to everyone. Then I got fussy and mommy had to take me outside. I'm not ready for the sermons yet. Too many big words. When I went outside, I threw up on mommy and the dried-up prune on my belly disappeared. Mommy said I lost my umbilical cord. She kept it to show to daddy when we got home. Sure am glad that thing is gone. Anyway, I can't wait to go back to church. There were tons of ladies giving me hugs. Daddy said he can already tell I'm going to be a ladies man.

Grandpa Mac

Hey guys. This is my Grandpa Mac. I met him over the weekend. He's really smart and going to help me buy my first car when I get older. I'm going to learn a lot from Granpa Mac. He tells it like it is. I overheard him telling mommy and daddy to say bye-bye to 250,000 bucks because that's how much it will cost to take care of me. Mommy said she'd spend 1 million. She must really love me. My other Grandaddy is coming in on Sunday. I heard that's where the signature Hinsey nose orginated. Well take care and see you guys soon.

Grammie Jessie

Hey guys, I'm back. This lovely lady is my Grammie Jessie. She flew all the way from Nassau, Bahamas just to see me. I must be pretty special. She says I look like my daddy when I cry. We've just been hanging out getting to know each other. She says I like to eat and that I've grown since she's got here. I really do like to eat. Daddy says I get that from mommy. Mommy said daddy's in trouble for saying she likes to eat alot. My folks crack me up. They are so funny. Well I turned two weeks old yesterday and I think my umbilical cord is getting ready to drop off really soon. I sure will be glad to get rid of that ugly little thing. It looks like a mix between a dried up prune and bird poop. Now you see why I want that little thing gone. Anyway, I love you world and can't wait to meet everyone. Take care and see u soon.

My First Photo Shoot

Hey everyone. I had my first photo op today. You can check out more pictures down below. Have fun.

Mi Madre

Mommy finally let daddy take a picture of her. Isn't she lovely. Everyone says I look just like her except for my nose. That's from daddy. She feeds me, cuddles with me, and kisses me all the time. All daddy wants to do is wrestle and bounce me around. He'd toss me in the air if mommy let him. Doesn't he realize I'm only 10 days old. Mommy's beginning to realize that I like to sleep during the day and stay up at night. I did the same thing when I was in her belly. I slept all day when she was at work, but when nighttime came around it was time to paaartyy! Daddy's been helping out at night though. He gave me my first bottle yesterday and I sucked that dude down in no time. I heard daddy telling mommy that that milk stuff is liquid gold. Don't know what that means but I'm sure I'll find out when I get older. Well, see you later world. Much more to come.

Bahamianized

Just in case you are wondering what in the world is going on here, I'm getting culturized. Daddy said that in the Bahamas when a baby has the hiccups they tear off a piece of paper, wet it, and then stick it on the baby's forehead. So I guess he decided to try it and see if it works. I guess the idea is that it's supposed to help me focus on something other than the hiccups. Guess what, it worked. Hiccups were gone in less than a minute. You guys should have seen mommy's face when she saw me with paper stuck to my head. Hilarious. People, I know I look goofy, but if it helps get rid of those annoying hiccups, I'll try it. I wonder what other interesting Bahamian remedies daddy has stored in his hat of tricks. I told you me and this daddy guy would have lots of fun together. See ya later, alligators. (just learned that this week too.)

Strolling Down the Street

Today is my one week old birthday. My, how time flies when you're having fun. Mommy and daddy decided to take me for a short stroll down the block today. My pediatrician said it would be good for me to get some vitamin D, whatever that means. Not much has been going on except, eating, sleeping, and pooping. It's pretty funny when I poop because after they clean me I drop another load on them. That's so funny.
My walk was pretty neat. I met some of the
neighbors. They were so amazed that mommy was already out and walking around. My
mommy's one tough cookie. I always hear daddy
talking about how good of a job she did getting me here. Well I'm a week old and growing bigger every day. Daddy says pretty soon I'll be a grandpa. Slow down pops, I haven't even learned any pickup lines yet. Stay tuned I'll be back with more in a few days.

The Fellas

This is me and my dad. As you can see, I have more hair than he does. His head is really shiny and he's a lot darker than I am. He sings me to sleep sometimes, but other times I give him a hard time and then mommy comes to the rescue. I'm going to like getting to know this daddy guy. He looks pretty cool. And I can already tell we are going to have lots of fun together. I've learned so much in these first few days of life. I also met my two brothers, Jay and Smoke. They don't look anything like me, but mom and dad swear that we are related. Jay is orange and smoke is gray and they are really bushy. I hope I don't get bushy like them. Anyway, life is getting interesting. Stay tuned for the next exciting post of my new life.

My First Night at Home and Grandma Mac

So world, here I am again. I made it through my first night at home, and mom and dad didn't send me packing. I kept them up all night long (hehehehe). Hey, I'm just a baby and I can't verbalize what I want so I have to cry. (This crying thing is like a daddy pager... whenever I do it, he comes running...what a sucker.) My dad's really funny. When I'm hungry, he thinks I have a poopy diaper and when I have a poopy diaper, he thinks I'm hungry. He'll figure it out. Well, on to other things. I got to hang out with this really cool person today known as my grandma. I really like this grandma lady. She knows just what to do to help me fall asleep. I've heard I have two other grandmas but I haven't met them yet. I heard one lives on an island called the Bahamas (Grammie Jessie) and the other one lives in Michigan (Grandma Wheatley). Don't know where those places are, but I'm sure I'll find out in time. Grammie Jessie's coming to visit next month so I'm excited to meet her. Well world, I heard I have to go to the doctor in the morning. The last time I saw this guy, he cut me down there (you know what I mean). So I don't know how I feel about this guy. We'll see though. Stay tuned for more. My life's just getting started and I have so much to share as I learn new things everyday.

Who Do I Look Like?

Well, everyone's been trying to figure out who I look like. So, I thought I'd help you guys figure it out. Have at it. Mommy's at the top and daddy's at the bottom, and I'm in the middle.

My First Bath

Where's the privacy. Just show the whole world why don't ya. Not my finest moment, but how bout you try getting pushed out of your home of 40 weeks into a world of giants that make weird noises that I'm supposed to understand. What in the world is "goo goo, gaa gaa". Beats me. Anyway, guess some strange way of saying, "Kid you are sooooo cute."

I'm Here!

Hello World,

My name is Samuel Jadon Thomas Hinsey. I was born on Tuesday, May 27 at 2:27 p.m. I weighed 7 lbs. 10 ounces and was 20 inches long. Right now my eyes look like they are hazel, but who knows they may change. I'm really peachy like my mommy, but I definitely have my daddy's nose. This weird new world is a lot different than where I hung out for the past 40 weeks. My mommy and daddy are not what I imagined. Dad's a lot goofier than I thought, and mommy is really pretty.

Well world, I'm here now. Stay tuned because I'm sure I'll be sending out more updates.

1 Samuel 1:20
So in the course of time Hannah conceived and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, saying, "Because I asked the LORD for him."
